On the evening of September 14, 2024, Chung Tian Temple hosted a Mid-Autumn Festival celebration titled 'The Moonlight of the Night.' Over 180 people gathered, including Abbess of Chung Tian Temple Venerable Man Wang, Superintendent Venerable Miao Yao, President of the Buddha’s Light International Association of QLD (BLIAQ) Michelle Lo, BLIAQ Chief Elder Advisor Stephen Chang, BLIAQ North Branch and West Branch sub-chapter members, BLIAQ Young Adult Division members, and the general Brisbane community. Under the moonlit sky and accompanied by drifting clouds, everyone enjoyed artistic performances, savored traditional vegetarian dishes and shared in the joy of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

At 8 PM, the celebration officially commenced. BLIAQ President Michelle Lo warmly welcomed attendees to the event, highlighting the significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival, one of the most important traditional Chinese celebrations.

Under the enchanting moon, elaborate performances began in the Dharma Square, delighting the audience. The lineup featured a variety of colorful acts, including Renee’s rendition of 'Moon River,' the Queensland Chinese Orchestra Association’s performance of 'Blooming Flowers and Full Moon,' Bridget Lan playing 'Bodhi Tree' on the guitar, and the Distinguished Citizens Society International of Queensland presenting 'Moonlight Serenade.' Each performance was infused with festive spirit and artistic charm, earning enthusiastic applause from the crowd. These acts not only highlighted the rich traditions of the festival but also allowed Brisbane residents to experience the profound essence of Buddhist culture.

After the performance, Venerable Man Wang led everyone in a light offering ceremony before the Buddha, sincerely praying for a happy and fulfilling Mid-Autumn Festival, as well as peace and good fortune for all.

The event was organized by the BLIAQ North and West Branch sub-chapters, whose dedicated members worked tirelessly to set up the venue and prepare a diverse selection of vegetarian dishes, ensuring that all participants could savor the delights of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Mooncakes, tea snacks, and an assortment of vegetarian delicacies were beautifully presented, allowing everyone to enjoy the rich flavors associated with this cherished holiday.

Members of the BLIAQ Young Adult Division played an active role in preparing for the event, meticulously managing every detail, from venue decoration to lantern arrangements. The bright and colorful lanterns contributed to the festive atmosphere, while the enthusiasm and dedication of the youth members significantly enhanced the overall experience for all attendees.

Venerable Man Wang expressed that this event served as a valuable opportunity for the community to connect and an important platform for fostering an understanding of Buddhist culture while appreciating Chinese traditions. This celebration transcended cultural and religious boundaries, fostering mutual understanding and harmony within the community, and instilling a sense of hope and anticipation for life.
