Biography: Alice Liao
Alice Liao is a seasoned corporate manager who has worked for many years in both domestic and international business environments. She began studying calligraphy in 1985, and since then, has dedicated much of her time to practicing the art. Between 1988 and 1989, she completed the "Heart Sutra in a Hundred Styles," a work in which the Heart Sutra is written in one hundred different calligraphic forms. Upon completion, she donated this significant piece to Fo Guang Shan’s Pumen Temple.
Afterward, Liao spent 35 years working abroad, managing enterprises across China, Southeast Asia, and Africa. Despite her demanding career, her passion for calligraphy remained strong, and she often found joy and relaxation in the art of brush and ink.
In February 2024, Liao retired and returned to Taiwan to settle. She began a new rendition of the "Heart Sutra in a Hundred Styles," using calligraphy as a way to connect heart-to-heart with the sages and worthies of the past—a source of both inspiration and solace for her.
Recently, Liao has joined the
"Taiwan Federation of Literary and Artistic Circles – Taiwan Calligraphers Association" as a newly appointed director.
