Embark on a journey of spiritual transformation with the Emperor Liang Repentance, a profound Buddhist practice that has touched countless lives for centuries. This powerful ritual, also known as the Place of Compassion Repentance, was meticulously compiled by Ch'an Master Pao-chih and ten other esteemed monks.
The repentance owes its name to Emperor Wu of the Liang Dynasty, a devout Buddhist ruler who embraced the Bodhisattva precepts early in his reign2. His unwavering commitment to Buddhism earned him the title "Bodhisattva Emperor," as he dedicated himself to building temples, hosting Dharma services, and deeply studying Buddhist teachings.
At the heart of this repentance lies a tale of redemption. Emperor Wu's first wife, Queen Chi, known for her jealousy and ill temperament, found herself reborn as a python after her passing at the age of thirty.
