Who

The Queensland chapter of BLIA, Buddha’s Light International Association of Queensland (BLIAQ) was formally formed in 1992 as a non-profit organisation, with endeavours to serve the community by organising multicultural and spiritual activities, which help to enrich human minds, benefiting society through charitable programs, helping people who suffer from difficulties, focusing on social responsibility and aiming at the establishment of a Pure Land on Earth.

The BLIAQ has over 1,000 members and 9 branches, 1 young adult branch & 1 Scout namely;

Furthermore, the Loving Care Group was also formed under the wing of BLIAQ and acts as the charitable arm of the association. Each branch is self-organised by having its own sub-committee and is under the supervision of the association's main body.

Guiding Principles

To incorporate traditional Buddhist teachings into our modern lifestyles, so as to ameliorate the human race and rid society of ill conducts.
To organise Dharma talks and related events for the cultivation of the mind, so members may attain greater knowledge of Buddhism.
To provide opportunities for cultural and charitable events to assist those in need.
To function cooperatively with other Buddhist organisations internationally so that the ideal of the Buddha’s light shines throughout the world and the Dharma water flows endlessly can be realised.

BLIAQ Loving Care Group

At the commencement of 2003, FGS Chung Tian Temple Venerable Yi Lai established the Queensland Loving Care Group, following one of the four mission statements of Fo Guang Shan, "to benefit societies through charitable programs" by providing care and concern for all sentient beings.

The group's actions are guided by Buddhism, as they strive to practice compassion. They extend their reach to touch every heart with a purpose to aid those in need, enabling them to find peace in their lives.

BLIA Young
Adult Division

BLIA-YAD is the abbreviated form of the Buddha’s Light International Association—Young Adult Division and is a part of the greater global organisation, Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA). Youth from all walks of life and spiritual backgrounds are welcome to join YAD.

Through the organising of various activities and events, as well as practicing the three acts of goodness and the four givings, to give others hope, joy, confidence and convenience, BLIA-YAD hopes to promote the teachings of the Buddha, create fellowship among today's young people and to inspire youth to become the best that they can be.

The objectives of BLIA-YAD are to:

establish our direction through Humanistic Buddhism.
foster leadership skills by forming youth groups.
broaden our life experiences through activities.
deepen our faith in Buddhism through education.
enrich our values by contributing to society.

BLIAQ Scouts

Buddha's Light Scout Group QLD was established in 2018 and is the first Buddhist Scout group to be established in QLD. Its emphasis is on incorporating the Buddhist values into the Scout method for children and youth aged 5-18 years old.

Its vision is for Scouts to learn and develop in a happy and family-orientated environment with Buddhist values and ethics, and to cultivate the practice of the Three Acts of Goodness to "do good deeds, say good words and think good thoughts".

The purpose of Scouting is to contribute to the education of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual potential as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities.
